Growing up with a musician father and choral-director mother, music has always been at the core of her artistic journey. Classically trained with a love for folk music, Larissa has developed a passion for blending styles and allowing her various inspirations to shine through. Though the violin is her main focus, she is always keen to learn new instruments, and has had a variety of opportunities to perform as a vocalist and musician with a growing number of artists.

Favorite credits include:
Music Director and live-scoring for Pyretic Production’s Blood of Our Soil, including arranging 5-part choral harmonies and performing on the violin, accordion, bandura, and cymbalom (hammer and dulcimer).
“It is no wonder, too, that Larissa Pohoreski, music director and actor, was nominated for Best
Original Score for Blood of our Soil
. The music pulls the show together in a way that
engages all actors and audience alike…The music weaves through the play so intimately,
that it is clear the play would not succeed without it. “ - Amy Strizie, myentertainmentworld.ca

”Larissa Pohoreski’s masterful musical direction is transportive, employing a variety of
traditional instruments… and ranging from haunting choral melodies to robust folk dances.” -
Alberta Theatre Guide

“… a chorus of five supplement Makuch’s story through physical actions and vocal and
instrumental music (the remarkable musical direction is by Larissa Pohoreski and
the
ensemble singing is haunting) “ - Karen Fricker, Toronto Star
