Larissa Poho..

Larissa Poho (Pohoreski) is a multidisciplinary performer, production designer, and visual artist currently residing in Edmonton. Having attended both the University of Alberta for Theatre Design (Production), and MacEwan University for Theatre Arts (Performance) she has accumulated a unique set of skills both onstage and off. She has worked both locally and internationally, including performances across Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Poland and Ukraine, as a vocalist, actor, musician, lighting designer and dancer. In 2018 she was named as one of Alberta Council for Ukrainian Arts (ACUA)’s Top 30 Under 30 for her diverse skillsets and contributions to Alberta’s Ukrainian arts community. From 2019-2020 she served as the Creative Director for the Viter Ukrainian Dancers & Folk Choir’s 25th Anniversary Production, Kalyna (Covid-cancellation). Larissa is also an active arts-educator, and teaches dance for the Young Musical Company at the Citadel Theatre.

She is the inaugural Common Ground Arts Society (CGAS) Fresh AiR artist, and successfully wrote and produced an immersive site-specific theatrical production in the Edmonton River Valley (Before the River, 2017). Under the guise of Mavka Theatre, she creates work that merges contemporary aesthetic with folkloric inspiration. Among her many projects, she is currently deep in the development of The Ravens, in addition to touring her award-winning solo show Moonshine.

Larissa’s visual art has been featured at the Art Gallery of Alberta, ACUA Gallery & Boutique, Latitude53, The Museum of Pysanka in Ukraine, and in 2016 her mixed media piece, Hamaliya, was chosen for the Shevchenko Foundation Bookmark Campaign and was printed on 35,000 bookmarks distributed across Canada.  She is available for commissioned work across a variety of mediums, contact her with your ideas!
